The Lost Sector is a location and gameplay mechanic of Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
Lore[]
The Ark where the game is set isn't the only Ark, or at least, it wasn't intended to be. Other locations were sites slated for construction of additional Arks, but were overrun by Raptures before they could be established. As most of these Arks were near completion before being lost, a number of resources and technologies of value still remain within these wrecks. Most notable is the Harmony Cube, a jumbled mass of data that can somehow enhance the abilities of Nikkes. Of course, getting these cubes and the resources of the Lost Sectors requires navigating swarms of Raptures and the labyrinthine wreckage.
The Nikkes of the Scouts are normally tasked with reconnoitering these areas.
Gameplay[]
Lost Sectors are pseudo-dungeon crawler segments where the player must guide a team of Nikkes to collect treasure and reach the end to obtain rewards. Lost Sector layout will always remain static, from paths to enemy spawns.
At the start of a Lost Sector, the player will create a squad of up to five Nikkes to explore the map. Some maps will have players control multiple squads, though they share the same deployment limit. The player can return the squad to the start point in order to swap out units, though Nikkes status does not carry between battles unlike Simulation Room. Some Lost Sectors will require the deployment of multiple squads, and control of each squad can be swapped at will. Some maps will also feature supply points. These allow players to reorganize squads and also increase the maximum deployment limit.
Helper Robots[]
Some Lost Sectors will allow the player to control a small robot that can assist in navigating the Sector. Helper Robots come in multiple varieties, and some stages will feature more than one type of robot. Robots cannot bypass barriers or fight Raptures. In the case of the latter, attempting to approach a Rapture will cause the robot to flee.
Robot type | Description |
---|---|
Ground | A basic helper robot that can move anywhere a Nikke squad can, activating switches by standing on them |
Flyer | A flying robot with a set of arms. They can traverse pits, but must carry and drop blocks around the area to activate switches |
Crusher | A robot sporting a large pair of piston arms. They have the ability to break rubble blocking the way |
Welder | A spherical robot with a set of soldering irons for arms. Stages that feature these robots will feature switches that can only be activated by keeping this robot on them for approximately 3 seconds. |
Information[]
Completing 100% Exploration Progress for each sector also rewards 500.
