Description[]

Marian is very kind and friendly to everyone.

A truly benevolent Nikke who has no hesitation in sacrificing herself for others in needs. Due to her kind characteristic, she has no enemies. Everyone likes Marian. Nobody would be able to clearly identify this truly unblemished benevolence as whether an act of virtue or a simple flaw.

Personality[]

Marian is a warmhearted, protective Nikke who has no qualms of protecting others as her own duty, forming a bond between herself and her human commander. Similarly to Rapi, Marian is highly obedient to the protagonist and loathes over insubordinance amongst other Nikkes.

Story[]

Main Story[]

Chapter 0 - Fall[]

Marian is sent with a freshly-graduated commander of the military academy, on a search-and-rescue mission for some squads that have gone missing, but on the way there, their transport is shot down. Marian frantically tries to contact the Ark, but to no avail. Noticing the protagonist is going into cardiac arrest, she uses an AED to resuscitate him. Spotting Raptures on approach, Marian gives the protagonist command of the battlefield, promising to protect him.

After dispatching the Raptures, Marian sees to the protagonist's condition while he bandages a wound on her leg. While it doesn't actually do anything for a Nikke, the gesture alone warms her heart.

After dispatching more Raptures, the two hear gunshots and investigate, finding two Nikkes in pitched combat with Raptures. Marian and the protagonist assist them in battle, and when the dust settles, the two Nikkes introduce themselves as Rapi and Anis. They were part of another squad on the same mission, but their squad was wiped out, even their commander, who tried attacking a Rapture with a human-grade weapon. Marian berates the two for letting their commander die, much to Anis' annoyance before Rapi advises they regroup somewhere less exposed.

Chapter 1 - Corruption[]

As the team of four goes over their mission details, Marian notifies everyone that she knows where they need to go, asking everyone to follow her. Before they depart, she chides Rapi for calling the protagonist a novice.

On the way to the coordinates, Anis notices Marian seems unwell. Marian herself admits to feeling off, to which Rapi tells her to strip so she can perform maintenance, much to the shock and embarrassment of both Marian and the protagonist. Despite protesting a great deal, Marian eventually agrees to strip after the protagonist turns away to avoid catching an eyeful. The maintenance turns up no abnormalities, and they proceed.

Later, the squad finally reestablishes communications with the Ark, allowing their navigator Shifty to provide analytical support. As Marian and Anis get into a scuffle about the odds of a successful rescue, Shifty notices a Lord-class Rapture in the vicinity. Despite Marian recommending a retreat, the protagonist insists on continuing the mission, even if they have to fight the Lord.

After defeating the Raptures, the squad reviews their damage. Marian is suffering from a number of damages, currently the squad's highest, but she insists on pressing on. The protagonist bandages her wounds, much to her gratitude.

Upon reaching the coordinates, Marian walks ahead even as there appears to be no sign of their mission targets. As Shifty brings in an analysis, Rapi turns her gun on Marian. The transport carrying her and the protagonist wasn't shot down by enemy anti-air. It was destroyed from inside, using explosives meant for the mission that can't detonate with an activation signal. Marian briefly denies these accusations before her eyes suddenly glow red and she repeats "Over here." in a distorted voice. It turns out Marian has been corrupted by the Raptures and become their puppet. The corrupted Marian sends out a distress call, beckoning a Tyrant-class Rapture codenamed Blacksmith to appear. In a desperate bid to save Marian, the protagonist has Rapi and Anis attack the Blacksmith.

Chapter 1 02 Cutscene

"Over here..."

Against all odds, the Blacksmith is destroyed, and a heavily-damaged Marian falls out of it. The corruption has already reached her brain, meaning if she were to return to the Ark, there's a risk she would become an Irregular and start attacking humans. Obligated by Ark law to perform the execution, the protagonist's trembling hands let the gun go slack, but Marian's own brings the barrel pointing back to her head. Thanking the protagonist one last time for the bandages, her hand slips into the finger guard and pulls the trigger, putting a bullet in her skull. The protagonist bandages her head wound before departing with Rapi and Anis, leaving behind the corpse of a friend.

Epilogue - Twisted Rebirth[]

For better and for worse, Marian's story was not fated to end there. At some point, the Raptures recovered her body, and fused it with Rapture technology to return it to life. But what came back was not the gentle Silver Gun Nikke the protagonist knew and cherished. It was Modernia, a Heretic who betrayed humanity to fight for the Raptures and their Queen. She was later rescued and was given a neural wipe, thus erasing all of her memories to cure her corruption.
