Episode 1 - Walk the Path of Waterpower[]
It's another relaxing day of being stranded on an island for the protagonist...right up until Neon comes hollering about bad news. She elaborates on this crisis that, by her admission, may or may not be worse than their stranding. No matter how hard she tries, her waterpower is never up to par with her firepower.
Her concern is that unlike her firepower, waterpower seems to have less, if any, noticeable signs of improvement by training. It's actually shaken her confidence in continuing on this path of mastering waterpower. After a brief back-and-forth on taking things seriously, Neon explains to the protagonist that she wants her waterpower to at least equal her firepower. With both fire and water under her dominion, she would become a "true hybrid". To that end, she wants him to accompany her as her "waterpower master", similar to his role as her "firepower master".
The protagonist's acceptance of this request delights Neon, who then sets her goal for this endeavor; taking a boulder she found at the back of the island, and reducing it to rubble by waterpower alone. At the protagonist's behest, Neon takes him outside to point out this boulder.
The boulder in question leaves the protagonist unable to say anything. It's big enough to equal that of a five-story building in height alone, which isn't doing any favors for his confidence in the odds of success. Neon's assertion that she will accomplish this feat isn't helping matters any, what with her attempting to to do this with a regular squirt gun. According to her, the inspiration to this challenge was derived from records of how older civilizations managed to carve up stone slabs with just water and blades. Weighing the odds of pulling this off with comparatively more advanced technology, the protagonist commits his support to this challenge.
Episode 2 - No Pain, No Gain[]
Neon is considering how she'll go about breaking a boulder with water, prompting the protagonist to ask how she's been training her waterpower this whole time. The regimen is...certainly nonstandard, consisting of 100 repetitions of retrieving water from the tank, scrubbing her face with said water, going for a swim, and trawling the water for seashells. Though she claims to be strengthening her connection to water, the protagonist sees this as less like "training" and more like "befriending water".
Neon gets an epiphany about how people talk of training as this painful but necessary thing to get stronger, and declares she will immerse herself in pain in order to train her waterpower. Her first act? To dive into the sea and hold her breath for a really long time. Panicked, the protagonist rushes to save Neon from the water.
It takes time and a lot of effort, but the protagonist finally manages to pull Neon out of the sea, the latter sputtering and hacking from not breathing for so long. Seeing Neon talk about what she "saw" on the ocean floor, the protagonist decides to try something less likely to end with him filing a casualty report. He cups some water in his hands and tells her to put her face in it and call it "diving". Neon finds this not as intense-sounding as holding your breath in the open waves, but she complies.
30 seconds later, Neon pulls her face out with a gasp, surprised by how hard it was to hold her breath for that long in such a comparatively small amount of water. Marveling over water's ability to inflict so much pain with so little, Neon cups some water to continue her "diving" training.
A few hours later, Neon's ability to hold her breath has increased to 100 seconds. the exertion to reach this point has fatigued her to the equivalent of fighting a horde of Raptures, but in her eyes, that's a sign that this training (might) have incredible gains. She decides to head back to the boulder and get a progress update on her waterpower. The protagonist isn't optimistic about how this will turn out...
Predictably, things go as the protagonist thought, with nary a scratch on the boulder's face. In response to the seeming lack of visible damage, Neon...hypothesizes she dealt internal damage to it? She believes that she may have performed untold amounts of damage to the rock's insides, and that a single tap will make it fall apart, which...it doesn't.
With no visible progress being made, the protagonist decides to change tracks from training, proposing they go search for the "legendary weapon master".
Episode 3 - Not Strong Enough? There's a Weapon for That[]
The protagonist and Neon are smashing rocks and searching for a white porcelain object that (ostensibly) is some kind of legendary material. The protagonist ponders on the events that led to this situation.
Flashback to a few hours ago, when the duo consult Liter for a legendary weapon that can harness water. The Mighty Tools leader boils it down to making a squirt gun strong enough to punch through a boulder, then gives the two a yelling at for not bringing her any material to work with. A gun with enough water pressure to slice through rock would mandate materials sturdy enough to hold that kind of force, and Liter isn't too confident that such materials exist on this island.
After hearing Neon's reasons and the protagonist's shameless flattery effusive praise for Mighty Tools' abilities, Liter finally agrees to make this legendary weapon of water they desire. If, and only if, they source the materials themselves. At the architect's advice, the two decide to go the hotel Rapi discovered and scrounge up something that can hold a lot of water. They find broken fountains, sinks, and water tanks before finally discovering a suitable material for their legendary weapon. A toilet.
Neither of the duo are particularly enthused by the prospect of making a legendary "toilet gun", but decide to pitch the idea to Liter since she'll be the one making it.
Episode 4 - No Master Is Too Good for Toilets[]
Needless to say, Liter is flabbergasted that the two brought her a toilet of all things to make a weapon with. Frankly, she's considering the idea of instead sending Volt out to find something instead. At the protagonist's questioning, Liter admits she could make something out of this toilet, but the idea of even attempting it, let alone making a viable product is...undignified, to say the least.
Neon goes into a monologue about the liquid containment capabilities of toilets, and how a master builder like Liter should be able to look past trifles like what toilets are normally used for. With only a mild look of resignation, the Mighty Tools leader acquiesces to making a water-based weapon out of a toilet, proclaiming the two have now waived any right to complain about using a weapon made out of said toilet.
Neon fires back that she's going to love and use this weapon no matter how it looks. Cut to a few hours later and Neon...is asking Liter to change the weapon's design while looking over it.
The "MegaHydro Mk. IV", as the design documents call it, is basically a toilet on wheels with steering handles and a massive gun barrel in the bowl. As the protagonist calls it, there's absolutely no way that anyone looking at this would call it anything but a toilet. Liter assures the two that she was incredibly thorough in sanitizing the...base components...of this device, but gets frustrated as Neon keeps waffling over using it. Sure, anything made by Mighty Tools is definitely going to work, but the idea of going around with a toilet turret is kind of...
The protagonist's advice on function over form is all the push Neon needs to steel herself, and she asks Liter for the operation instructions. Thankfully, it's as simple as moving it into position and pushing the "fire" button, but as she warns, there is one catch. The tank for MegaHydro Mk. IV is fully loaded, but no reloading mechanism system was implemented, so this thing will be useless after one shot. It'll literally put everything into a single shot, so making sure that one shot lands is going to be a skill issue concern for Neon.
Neon herself is confident that a "god of sniping" like herself will do perfectly fine (ignoring the fact that she's never used a sniper rifle), and drags the protagonist so she can show her stuff as the epitome of waterpower.
Episode 5 - Becoming Waterpower Incarnate[]
Neon ponders in front of the boulder as she thinks about everything leading up to this moment. The first time she laid eyes on the ocean waves and the force behind them, her heart was set on becoming a hybrid who mastered both fire and water.
She looks towards the device she's carrying along. The toilet Megahydro Mk. IV, the latest fruit of labor from Liter, finest craftswoman of the island and "legendary weapon master". It's an undeniably powerful toilet weapon, but it will only fire one shot, and absolutely nothing more. It's that same limitation that's prevented both herself and the protagonist from test-firing it, meaning that their first and only use of it will have to rely solely on instinct and luck. It's enough to make Neon's stomach churn, but to become waterpower incarnate, it's a fear she'll have to go beyond.
Neon adjusts the MegaHydro Mk. IV's barrel to optimize the firing angle, and declares all conditions optimal. Lighting, angle, even wind direction. But most of all, the protagonist, her "Master" who stuck with her through thick, thin, and everything in between, is here to support her. With some words of encouragement and overflowing confidence, Neon presses the button on the toilet weapon and...
The toilet weapon makes a sound awfully reminiscent of one flushing something. The sudden anticlimax vanishes just as suddenly as MegaHydro Mk. IV releases a burst of water strong enough to make the beach shudder. The wave slams into the boulder with enough force to scatter a thick mist into the air, obscuring all from sight. When the mist finally settles, Neon and the protagonist look in awe as the once-mighty boulder is nothing but rubble before their eyes.
The duo rejoice over their success as Neon thanks MegaHydro Mk. IV for achieving this feat before deciding upon her new goal. Now that she's witnessed what waterpower can accomplish, she wants to reach such heights on her own, without any special weapons like MegaHydro Mk. IV. She resolves to become waterpower incarnate, able to smash any rock or Rapture in her way. To that end, she heads to the beach to continue her training, beckoning the protagonist to come with her, the two dramatically walking into the sunset...
Cut to the next day, where as Mary notes, the two are collapsed in the clinic due to heatstroke. Neon is insistent on braving whatever pain will allow her to validate MegaHydro Mk. IV's sacrifice, but relents in the face of Mary's hypodermic needles. As the doctor leaves to get some juice for her patients, Neon sees an opportunity to sneak out and keep training...except the protagonist is (pretending to be) asleep, wisely deciding not to further engender Mary's wrath.
